PVC-"The Poison Plastic" Explained

PVC stands for Polyvinyl Chloride. The following is a portion of copy from pvcfree.org, which is a non-profit with the goal of informing the public.

PVC (polyvinyl chloride) plastic, commonly referred to as vinyl, is one of the most hazardous consumer products ever created. PVC is dangerous to human health and the environment throughout its entire life cycle, at the factory, in our homes, and in the trash. Our bodies are contaminated with poisonous chemicals released during the PVC lifecycle, such as mercury, dioxins, and phthalates, WHICH MAY POSE IRREVERSIBLE LIFE-LONG HEALTH THREATS. When produced or burned, PVC plastic releases dioxins, a group of the most potent synthetic chemicals ever tested, which can cause cancer and harm the immune and reproductive systems.............

PVC smells bad, and it "outgasses" toxic fumes that would be outside (and inside) the ball. Also, time, the sun and heat cause the ball made of PVC to turn nasty yellow and then brown.

TPU-"The Safer, Better Idea" Explained

TPU stands for Thermoplastic Polyurethane. It does not have any toxin smell. Any KFUN.TV Grass Ball or Water Ball made of TPU will not turn brown. Other positive qualities of TPU include:

* excellent abrasion resistance
* outstanding low-temperature performance (you can roll in winter months!)
* excellent mechanical properties, combined with a rubber-like elasticity
* very good tear strength (won't tear under normal use)
* high elasticity
* high transparency

Sooo, to recap:

1) PVC is dangerous and TPU is good. (Check out pvcfree.org and other similar sites.)
2) If someone offers a ball at an unusually low price, you can be sure it's PVC. If someone tries to convince you that the only balls available are made of PVC, they're lying.
